[aprssig] FBI Equivalent Of An APRS Tracker

The XE1201 *can* work on 433 and could be, but don't assume this.  This is a government operation. The XE1201 operates from 300-500.  The SAW resonator frequency isn't obvious from it's markings.  If I was the FBI i don't think I'd want to be fighting everybody's remote whatever.  The 300+ MHz garage opener frequency  (I've measured) would be better, or what ever frequendy they darn well please...

Like I said - a shame they didn't measure it...of course if it doesn't beacon, then they'd have to do more fiddling to see it receive somethong, coax it into talking, or disect it further...

If it is, I wonder of some of those strage squwaks I here on 433 are these trackers...

My own repeater has a duplex link in this area.

Remember, though, Amateur use is secondary from 420-449.99 in the US; and there are "Line A" and "Line B" geographic restrictions on use of parts of the band.

That would be a short range link... so  I guess they do a "drive by" and download the data from curbside as opposed to live tracking.  Of course it would be easy (and smart) to make it beacon while moving too.

Perhaps it stores the data and regurgitates it on command.
