I'm familiar with the dual-meaning of Mic-E. What I'm tracking down is
the apparent telemetry (`XXXX) that is appearing in those packets. I
see the teletry defined at
http://www.tapr.org/kits_mic-e.html#message_format just as promulgated
in aprs101.pdf.
I pulled the mic-e.manual.pdf file from that site and I now see on page
18 that it DOES in fact support telemetry! And that telemetry is
inserted before any status text in the packet. This is exactly what I
needed to know! (Oh, and apparently N7RIF-9 is configured to transmit
just 2 values, the first of which is a measure of the input voltage).
