I just updated the Golde-Packet mountain top checklist for 2011:

http://www.aprs.org/hamtrails/golden-checklist.txt

It summarizes how each major digipeater station will need several radios:

- The DIGI: A D700 or D710 (preferred)
   - Band-A on the VHF EVENT channel
   - Band-B on 445.925 for coordination

- APRS HT: This station remains on 144.39 for all coordination
  - Band A on 144.39
  - Band-B on the local UHF repeater for your site

- PACKET station back home or in the car to log everything heard on the
event channel

- UHF HT #2: This one to monitor the UHF voice repeater of your adjacent
nodes north and south of you.

- Other HF or RADIO TOYS: For your entertainment (if you are so lucky as to
get everything working the first time, and to play with while you wait for
your adjacent nodes to get their act together...). Just don't do anything
on 2 meters that might desense the golden packet!
