I'm not sure what you're asking... the FMI protocol is documented on 
Garmin's site.  On the serial side, the GTRANS uses $GPWPL (NMEA 0183) 
and $PKWDWPL (not publicly documented that I know of), and KPC-3 style 
packets.  It puts out $GPGGA, $GPRMC, and $GPGLL.
