Actually no, that's not P25. They're talking about MotoTRBO, which is 
already being used by lots of hams. We even have a repeater over here, and 
there's also a linked network of repeters (dmr-marc.net).

My 70 cm TRBO hand-held has GPS and text messaging built in.

Each radio is assigned an IP address. It has an USB port which provides an 
Ethernet over USB interface which even works on Linux out of the box (no 
special drivers needed). The radio has a DHCP server and communication 
with other radios happens using UDP packets sent to the IP addresses of 
the radios. It's certainly very interesting.
