Thanks bob, but I have studied Mic-E a little bit - the latitude (TOCALL)field only.

I'm pretty sure I didn't send any messages this trip and the bogus TOCALL packets I see on Findu are "beacon-like" in the rest of the packet.

ARRRRRG! Points to the radio hickupping.

I see what must be the two last bogus ones, around one bogus TOCALL:
2010 09 29 23:57:41,K9DCI-9>TQ3V9T,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...
2010 09 29 23:58:46,K9DCI-9>APK101,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...
2010 09 29 23:59:49,K9DCI-9>TS2V3R,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...
2010 09 30 00:00:57,K9DCI-9>TQ3V2Q,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...

These jump north about two degrees latitude and back.

Here's another:
2010 09 30 00:12:42,K9DCI-9>TQ3U8S,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...
2010 09 30:00:14:48,K9DCI-9>APK101,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...
2010 09 30:00:15:50,K9DCI-9>TQ3U6W,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...
2010 09 30:00:16:53,K9DCI-9>TP3U2Q,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W9EAA:...

This jumps about a degree south. Looks like around the time crossing ole' Mississippi. Ahhh, so the D700 is gray-line sensitive. (:-)

Either W9EAA is munging packets or the D700 is. Since I didn't send messages, W9EAA wouldn't even know I was a D700 (unless it's munging somebody elses packets with mine.
Except I see that another two bogus TOCALLS are gated by WA9LT, but without an adjacent hyper-jump.

Thinking back...
On my previous trip to Denver area, I had a very tenacious "OPENING TNC" lockup...on every power up I had to clear it with some GPS command wrangling I found on the Yahoo group. I finally tried a reset of the TNC and it went away.

Perhaps it's time for a reset-&-reload-fest. Hmmm...I never had to replace the battery either...
