Yes, generally the manufacturer has a jiffy cable with radio connector on one end and loose wires sticking out the other end so you can take care of operating problems. I just bought such a thing for the Yaesu VX-8GR I bought for the XYL.

I've used USB devices before to hook up a computer to a radio, but not
sure how the radio is supposed to know when to Tx just by supplying an
audio feed.
