Yes, Please contact the FBO again (or ask for a return call) and ask about the response he got.

Now...

Since I haven't read this thread...

I see nothing illegal with me using Sky1 tactical _ON_ RF as long as I do so with the proper identification.

Even if I have read this.  I can do so legally.  Since he is currently illegal - that isn't my fault.  If many others ALSO did it as an experimental test of APRS (with proper ID), it is also within the bounds of Part 97.

I know we are supposed to LISTEN before transmitting, but I don't 'hear' anyone on .39 using a T-call SKY1!  I listened, so I'm ligit.

However, I must agree that the "Internet Object Bot" is just a wee bit more elegant.

He'll hafta' go up again before there's a chance of it having any effect.

Now if dozens of people started beaconing the "callsign" SKY1 every
few minutes it could frustrate anyone illegally using SKY1 with no callsign
associated with it. I'm sure that eventually they would change to another
"callsign" but it wouldn't take too much effort for legal users to make it
useless for the unlicensed users. It could be done on RF close to an IGate
with flea-power and with no path, or it could even be done with a TCPIP
connection only instead of on the air.

I wonder how long before the unlicensed user would send off a flamefest to the person that creates an object with the call of SKY1 saying don't use it because you are interfering with me?   :)
