It was seen by many at the Black Forest Star Party in north-central 
Pennsylvania just east of Coudersport (Cherry Springs State Park, 
Sussquehannock State Forest) as a small, vertically pointing cone a bit 
less than 10 degrees above the horizon and lasted less than 10 seconds. 
My friends and I just happened to be standing outside looking south-east 
before the observing session got underway. Fairly eerie at the time. 
Some speculated that it could have been a nearly head-on meteor but 
someone else got the real story fairly quickly.
