Gentlemen,
There is a solution for all problems concerning fill-in and airborne
digipeaters, called "viscous digipeating".
Make the fill-in digipeater listen to the frequency for a couple of
seconds before digipeating. Then digipeat, if the packet hasn't been
heard digipeated by another station.
Simple, efficient, needs just some lines of code and some RAM space.
You can get rid of the infamous WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 hacks and survive even
in Dayton.
