[aprssig] APRS Clients Blackberry

Having had time to think about this some more, and having chatted with a
local ham who's also working on a desktop APRS client I'd like to get
started on this in the next few weeks.

Our thoughts thus far are to build a server side gateway that handles
offline message storage et al, along with an open JSON/XML/REST protocol
for mobile clients such as a BB app to speak with. We've discussed
using the OpenAPRS DCC gateway but wonder if it would be prudent to
build a gateway that any club or group can run for themselves so that
the application isn't reliant on any one gateway provider.

As for a client my initial thoughts are to build the client in the same
fashion as Live Messenger, integrating messaging into the standard
blackberry Inbox and adding beaconing abilities for those with reliable
GPS service. What other features would you want in a mobile app?

Anyone who's interested in using or developing the Blackberry App and/or
an XML/Json gateway to APRS-IS please drop me a note off list so we can
get a group up and running to work on this project.
