There is one thing you have to keep in mind in discussions like this:
U.K. is a rather small island, densely populated, though. Their views,
licensing conditions etc. do not necessarily reflect the views etc.
anywhere else in Europe. They also seem to have a more-than-proportional
vocal presence on most forums, based on the fact that English is their
first language. Can't actually blame them :)
My condolences to the U.K. operators that have to apply for a special
license like the rest of us. It is sad that in most European countries
the bureaucrats want to have their share, something like 30 bucks a
year for a digipeater license. Luckily in most places the administr-
ations are so short-staffed that they just don't seem to care, as long
as you don't interfere with any commercial services.
