Here is another chance to buy a good screen GPS($109) that talks to you, AND
with the AGulant GTRANS (GARMIN USB to SERIAL PIC) cable ($49) will provide
GPS data to all Kenwood APRS radios that use the Serial 3/32 Stereo cable
for GPS input. Charlie bought one, works on his D710. They also place the
location of the HEARD APRS station on the screen, just like the G5 ($600),
and update the current ICON, moving it as required.
They will work with the DSTAR radios that use the same 3/32 Stereo Serial
GPS input and will work with "any 3rd Party GPS"<sic>. HOWEVER, you have to make a null modem adapter, switching the tip and ring.
Anyway, a good GPS at a GREAT price, even if you don't by the Agulant cable and do APRS GPS.
Looks like Radio Shack's got them on sale through the end of the month(AUGUST 2009):

The miniusb to 3/32 stereo NEMA cable is here:

To answer your question, no, the others don't work quite right.
There's a list of tested units here:

The important columns are Displays Waypoints and Makes Duplicates. The
350 is the only model that doesn't create a duplicate waypoint when a
station moves, leaving a breadcrumb of waypoints.
