Sorry, I had the PG-5J mini-din on there just so I could see
what I was doing in tracing out the same signals as they appear
on the RJ-45 that goes to the RC-D710 Display Head.  Now that
they are traced, I don't need the PG-5J and can just interface
the D710 Display Head to the HT via only the RJ-45 and a clean
source of 9-11 VDC.

It's the RJ-45 is all you need.

Yes, that is why you can plug the RC-D710 APRS display head into
ANY such modern radio and get the full D710 APRS display
functionality on any radio.

Yes, and that is all the $80 PG-5J interface is, a connector box
and a 10V regulator.
