Apparently the SiRFStar III is supposed to be capable of about the same 
thing with different firmware.  It pre-calculates a set of ephemerides 
and caches them for a week or so.

With the battery and antenna requirements, this isn't going to shrink 
APRS trackers all that much.  The Trimble Copernicus is only the size of 
a dime, so it's not a huge leap compared to what's already out there.
