Perhaps so if you go with a hardware approach. However, a script running 
on IRLP nodes could create an APRS object or even a position report for 
APRStt stations. That would get it to the APRS-IS at no cost. Most IRLP 
nodes already have a radio listening 24/7 and can decode all DTMF tones 
except D. A prefix would have to be decided on. The prefix alone could 
trigger a confirmation that the APRStt script was running on that 
particular node. IGates would have to be involved to get them to RF if 
needed. I'm still not convinced that APRStt will really take off, but I 
think it should be given a chance. A script running on IRLP nodes might 
just be the zero cost way to go.
