That's not the way it works. Messages that make it to theh APRS-IS are
available to all IGates. It i the IGate that must be properly programmed
to send messages to local stations, and it is the IGate operator that
determines what is local... i.e. heard direct, heard via 1 hop, heard
via 2 hops etc. Conceivably, two adjacent IGates could be gating traffic
to the same mobile station.

I don't believe so. You would have to look at raw data from the
originating station and from the destination station to look at the sent
message or at the acks.

For messages sent to EMAIL, you would need to make it to an IGate to be
successful.

I just sent a message. It looks like you uare two hops away from an
IGate. Success will depend on whether one or more IGates consider you
are local, and upon conditions / propagation / packet collisions. I
didn't get an ACK, so I'll try a few more times.

You could contact the nearest IGate operators and ask them if they gate
traffic to local stations (as they should!!!!!!) and what they consider
local... i.e. direct, 1 hop, 2 hops etc.
