[aprssig] LCD in the car

Windows operating systems offer the option to set any executable
application to automatically start when the computer is started. Do it
everyday on dozens PC's at my work. You could, for example, set your
email program on your home PC to auto execute when you start up the PC.
To take it a step further, you can also set your Windows based PC to
automatically start up at a certain time of the day and week. For years
now many aftermarket motherboards have offered options such as startup
when the space bar is pressed. I have some Pentium II boards from Asus
that offered that around 8 years ago. Remoting the start button an a PC
is quite easy as well as it's usually nothing more than a momentary
connection of two terminals on the motherboard. This can easily be
remoted. Auto shutdown can also be easily installed through a number of
options including the assorted UPS control options available in more
recent Windows operating systems. Check your PC's BIOS options for more
clues.
