[aprssig] Time to UPGRADE obsolete DIGIS!

OK, its time for the other Gerhardt to speak up.

I have been reading these messages on the WIDEn-N paradigm which we adopted
here in the US back in 2005. Yes, we could have used a lot of different
terms instead of WIDEn-N but what does it matter. The bottom line is we
adopted the simple WIDEn-N as our standard and made it fully traceable to
eliminate the ping-pong effect that we suffered by using the old obsolete
RELAY.

Folks it really does not matter what we call our primary path, it matters
that we all standardize on the SAME path no matter where we are located to
make APRS more efficient and easier to operate for all players no matter
where we travel. I see it as crucial that we all use the same path for
mobile stations and also the same path for fixed stations. That way, no
matter where we travel in our small world, our trackers will still function
just fine without the traveler having to try to figure out what path he
needs to use as he travels. Some of the trackers would require the user to
also carry a laptop along so that he could change the paths in some of the
trackers.

Yes, we in the US jumped on the bandwagon and were the first to define the
new WIDEn-N paradigm. It was up for discussion in early 2005 till we zeroed
in on the new WIDEn-N paradigm settings. So, to keep things simple, please
everyone, lets adopt the same standard. It has already been tried and
proven to make APRS more efficient. So, lets not try to micromanage the
terminology and get one with the program of making APRS more efficient WORLD
wide. The world now days is an awful small place and we need to have the
same rules no matter where we travel.

Thanks for listening to the other Gerhardt, hi, hi.....
