I'm trying to setup the beacon for my home station to use the local
repeater format to announce my Echolink node (co-located with the APRS
station), presumably to allow D710s to autotune to the announced
frequency. I am trying to make sense of this recent post on this list:
"But now we are trying to use that Btext in a more
machine-readable format to produce this voice repeater as an
object. Then it can be "tuned" and separately located as a
separate object instead of just added status text onto the digi.
So instead of this beacon text (in status format):
">147.045 NO PL Uniontown ARC W3PIE "
Use this OBJECT format instead:
";147.045PA*111111zDDMM.~~N/DDDMM.~~Wr NoPL Rxxm Uniontown ARC W3PIE "
1) What do the letters "PA" after the frequency mean?
2) If this is a fixed message in the comment field of a beacon, how
does the timestamp "111111z" get updated?
I am trying to find the original document about this on the WB4APR
website.
1) I googled for "APRS voice repeater object" and came up with
eng.usna.navy.mil/~bruninga/aprs/AFRSspec.txt
(The .mil rather than the .edu domain)
2) I am getting a non-response and a time-out error on the link,
with either the
eng.usna.navy.mil -or- the www.ew.usna.edu domains.
Is the website broken or down???
