Here's where to find instructions for trying the latest Xastir on
Windows or Linux... No compiling involved!

     http://www.xastir.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo:VMware

I recommend downloading via the "torrent" link as it's a large file.
There are plenty of free Torrent downloaders available for Windows
or Linux. I use Ktorrent on Linux.

VMWare Player is a free download, and is used for "playing" the
image (see the instructions).

What this download gives you: Xastir pre-installed in Linux, with
Linux pre-installed in a VMWare Player image. Start up VMWare
Player, point it at the image, and you'll be up and running Xastir
in no time. Really Xastir on Linux on Windows, or Xastir on Linux
on Linux.

Thanks to all the download sites and torrent seeders who make these
images available.

P.S. Netiquette for torrents is to leave the torrent client running
after you download the file until the Share Ratio shows at least
1.0. This means you helped other people to download the large file
as well by getting little pieces of it from you. The wonders of
peer-to-peer filesharing!
