   OK. got it.   The best charge voltage is still a function of the battery's
construction and the load characteristics.  This tells me that you are
describing a current charge with voltage sense limits.  That is, indeed, a
different situation.
   I'd still be curious about a comparison between the float and this
mini-cycle.

   This is not my understanding of a float, but I was not in charge (no pun
intended) of battery operations, only listened in and read some about it.  A
couple of small SLAs I have recommended, if I recall, 13.6 - 13.8 float.
