>>> According to my Fireline Handbook a staging area
>>> is represented by circle with a "S" in the middle.

If you are on-line or local RF, Zoom to 3858N 7625W and you will
see such a sample object that I have just placed on the APRS map
near annapolis, MD. You can see it on
http://map.findu.com/staging2

But to demonstrate area objects, I also placed a large 3 mile
diameter area circle just to the south east of it and it is
named "staging1". I made it violet in color and solid color.
They can be any color(16) and can be filled or not. It can also
be any size from about 300 feet to 800 miles across. But since
FINDU does not support area objects, you won't see them there.

I'd be curious what other APRS clients do not support these
valuable area objects. The reason for the Area Objects (Circle,
Square, Triangle) are because some things are not points, but
are large areas (local nets, Search and rescue, staging areas,
weather areas, areas of interest, contamination, etc...). APRS
also supports a general polygon area that you draw with your
cursor that will also show on everyone else's map.

APRS objects. Worth a thousand words...
