If that external TNC is a KPC-9612+ then you end up wit all of this:
1) 1200 -or- 9600 on one frequency
2) 1200 -AND-9600 on another

On ch2, you can not only digipeat 1200 to 1200  and 9600 to 9600 but also 1200 to 9600 and 9600 to 1200 all at the same time.

It was nice for PCSAT-1 which comes over with TWO downlinks at the same time on two difference freqs.  And since either frq can have either 1200 or 9600 baud, this arrangement let us monitoir everything at the same time with one radio.
