Actually, of the above, the only desired symbols for the modern
New-N capable APRS network in the USA are the overlays of "1",
"S", and maybe a few "P" and "L"'s for special cases.  The "N"
represents an old WIDEn-N digi that has not yet been upgraded to
the New-N paradigm.

Not until the old "N" digi has been updated with all the new
settings for the New-N should it be changed to an "S".  Keeping
track of the network and its capabilities is all part of the
plan.

Which is really too bad.  It drastically restricts the intended
flexibility of APRS symbology.
