Cheers Mike.

MS say that W2k never has, and never will natively support WPA in any form...

However.. I found a copy of the McAffee Wireless client, that allows Windows 98 and later that only support WEP, to work with WPA. I got it working OK last night on an old 98 machine with an unbranded PCMCIA wireless card (Aetheros chipset) but the 2k machine has other issues that seem to prevent it from using ANY network device (USB or PCMCIA) more than once! (If you re-boot, it looses the NIC, and fails to recognise the existing workable hardware any more, unless you spend hours manualy uninstalling all the devices DLL's and registry entries etc.)

Anyway...

Is what I found that sorts out the WPA issue. Hope it helps someone else. You DO NOT need to register/pay to use this, don't get suckered in to what the website says! You may have to manualy start it, to get connectivity after Windows boots, but that's all.

What I would like however, is a source of economical USB sound cards (£15 or less) with just line (or at a pinch, mic) in/out, no 5.1 surround sound or other bells' whistles etc. Everything over here (UK) seems to be aimed at the golded ears brigade, along with home theatre fan's, at elevated price levels. The idea I had, was to enable a laptop to "connect" to "The Shack" with one USB lead, and an external hub. Anyone done that yet?

Yes, I know of the RigBlaster, but not at that price thanks (£59 upwards for what is an average sound system + serial port from what I've seen)

Cheers.
