I don't think it's a number-of-channels issue. They seem to be able
to receive at lower S/N ratios. Perhaps they have additional
channels as well, I don't know. I agree that it'd be good to get
real values in the table so that we can cover additional "good
things" that might come up in the future, as well as not get older
units classified in the category I listed.
I remember going from the Garmin 1-channel multiplexed between 8
satellite units to the 12-channel parallel units. This new jump in
capability with the SiRF chipsets appears to be of a similar nature
in usuability, if you can believe the nice things people are saying
aobut them.
