The Tasco TNC-on-a-chip used in the Kenwood radios is notorious for
instability in the KISS mode. The main problem is that it has FAR FAR
too little ram to buffer incoming and outgoing strings of data. It can
barely handle the relatively short strings of APRS one-liner packets.

The Kenwood TNC is almost unusable for conventional connected packet,
KISS or otherwise, because of buffer overruns on packets of over 100
bytes or so, let alone the added overhead of TCP/IP over packet.
