Hi Mike,

Yes, I have been using this method.  You are correct. I can tell it
works because I can view the GPSINIT string on my laptop as the KPC
powers up.

Before connecting the GPS to the KPC3, enter "INTFACE GPS".  If I
remember right, 3 Ctrl-Cs will get you back into command mode, but you
may want to check the manual first.
