I doubt they want to run a station there. Many find the spare time they have
in their off hours a good time for self improvement. Whether it be working
out at the gym, studying college courses, learning a new language, or studying
for an amateur radio license, it helps to kill time. They have the time to do these
things that they may never find time for at home. The last time I deployed I finished
up the Career Development Course for my military specialty and earned nine
college credits by studying the material for two courses and taking College Level
Examination Program exams at the education office. If they want to spend
their time studying and have an amateur license in their pocket when they return
home, I say good on 'em.
