This scheme works best with the Kenwood D700 or TH-D7 where the internal 
TNC is connected directly to the receiver discriminator BEFORE the PL 
squelching of the speaker audio.   The TNC is always listening, even 
with the speaker silenced by PL.  

The voice-alert scheme will also work easily on any rig with the 6-pin 
Mini-DIN data/packet connector.  Connect your TNC here instead of using 
the mic and speaker connections. One of the pins carries raw 
unsquelched, unfiltered discriminator audio that is always live.
