Wanna' bet?  If someone were to do this as an open-source project,
all they need is SOMEONE out there with the modem, or better yet
multiple someones, to test it.  The developers wouldn't need the
hardware at all in this case.  The motto of open-source projects is
"release early/release often".  That's how the really fast progress
is made.

I don't need more projects right now but I'll keep this in mind for
the future, or perhaps chip in if someone else takes this on.

So...  Was the answer to my question about Airmail merely being a
front-end GUI for the TNC a "yes"?
