Yes, FIXED stations or ANY staiton that does not have
an operator 100% PRESENT should never set to
TX with Voice Alert! Doing so is extreeeemly in violation
of the principle of Voice Alert.
Voice Alert means a HUMAN operator is present
(usually driving the car) and is LISTENING for a
call NOW.
There is nothing more irritating than hearing PL100
APRS packets WITH NO ONE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you hear such foolishness, activate your APRS
DF techniques, find him and inform him of his
transgression (being polite of course).
He is probably "listening" for mobiles near by when he is in his
shack and does not realize the EXTREME discourtesy
he is doing to mobiles that have to drive past his UNATTENDED
house everyday.... There is nothing that will cause people
to turn-off their Mobile Voice Alert more quickly than such
inconsiderate operation by fixed (mostly unattended) stations!
