[aprssig] New User Question(s)

Mark,

The goal is two hops total. WIDE1-1 takes care of the first hop and
WIDE2-1 does the second, after which the path is used up.

Subject: Re: [aprssig] New User Question(s)

Bob and all,

I have a basic question about the WIDEn-N parameters.

I think I understand that the first number indicates the desired number
of
hops, and the second number indicates the number of hops remaining. I
understand the concept of WIDE1-1, but cannot understand WIDE2-1. If 2
hops are desired, then why set the second parameter to allow only 1 hop?

I have read the

APRS Digipeating and Path Selection 101 at
http://webs.lanset.com/wa8lmf/DigiPaths/ . Is there another link to a
explanation of the WIDEn-N theory?

Mark N5RFX
