You can escape those like this:

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/symbol.cgi?icon=/%26&limit=200
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/symbol.cgi?icon=I%26&limit=200
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/symbol.cgi?icon=H%26&limit=200

The last one (HF GATE) returns no answers.  The other two return many.
