Robert,
Will you respond off list if possible? I have a question or two about your installation.

Subject: [aprssig] Re: Laptop Stand

Jason,
I had wanted a different laptop setup for mine as well. I used the
design from http://webs.lanset.com/wa8lmf/table/index.htm and added a
little bit. Go to http://disneycrazy.smugmug.com/gallery/1681789
(laptopstand is the password for this gallery) for my pictures. I got
2 “used” weights (25lb) from a Used Sports store. I drilled holes and
mounted flat aluminum stock across the bottom in several sections to
make “feet for it. (Look closely in some of the pics. I put insulation
around the pipe and ran all my wires from the radios (mounted under the
table) down the side. The foam hides the wires. It is tie wrapped.
Between the weights I have a little bit of foam to offset the bolt
heads. This setup WILL NOT MOVE! I have gone around corners,
potholes, and it will not budge. I have the laptop tie wrapped also
across the very top of the keyboard section. As you can see…running
old tech and very little outlay (90 mhz laptop, Garmin 8 channel GPS,
KPC3 with the serial switchy thingy and running Pmaps with Pmap 6).
Best thing…no holes were drilled and someone can sit in the other front
seat if need be ;-)
73,
Robert
