[aprssig] VHF Aircraft Channels

My understanding is that even if you have a type-accepted radio for airband,
you may only use a ground-based station to communicate with aircraft in
DIRECT SUPPORT of aviation activities. The control tower obviously
qualifies, and so do providers of aviation services such as fixed-base
operators... but I don't know whether the experiments you want to run would
qualify. It's been my experience from bumming around with some of my friends
who are into kitplanes that the airband is pretty strictly monitored, and
I'd hate for you to run into any problems. Of course, you may very well know
more about the restrictions in your area than I do. Just my $0.02.

Why not just run a 2m or 70cm rig from the plane? It's perfectly acceptable
to do that as long as the aircraft is operating VFR and you have the
approval of the pilot-in-command.
