There's also the Opentracker, a device a lot like a TT, only the OT  
author releases his software source.  The OT can do other nifty  
things like load new firmware to be a TX-only KISS "TNC" or PSK31.

Scott is also developing a new "opentracker" than can decode and  
display data on your GPS.  Not sure when we'll be able to get our  
hands on that.  Since you specifically stated you don't want to  
decode you're probably not interested in that.

The 2 big things about the D7/D700 are a) you can receive APRS, and  
b) they're dual band, so you can do APRS and still have a radio to  
use for 2m and 70cm voice, aircraft/weather radio monitoring, etc.   
They're also a 2 box solution (radio+GPS), where the OT/TT route is a  
3 box solution (radio+tracker+GPS).  You could probably reduce the  
tracker box count by using and HT with a AA battery case and stick  
the tracker inside the battery compartment, feeding power from your  
bike.

Cheapest way out is the tracker.  Most flexible and simplest to hook  
up is the D7/D700.
