I've also taken the liberty to send messages to passing travelers that
our area is now WIDEn-N. That way they can make changes for the next
trip.

I too encourage ALL digi owners/caretakers to update to the new Paradigm
Settings WITHOUT any transition to the old settings.
That means that RELAY, WIDE, TRACE and TRACEn-N would no longer work.
The users would then have to figure out why they are no longer making
the APRS system. We here in the NW made that decision a number of
months ago and we still have not reached everyone. Some digi owners
have not changed to the new settings and some have been "nice" guys and
changed their settings to support both the old and new settings. That
may seem like the right thing to do but it is not. It only causes
people to procrastinate forever and not upgrade their APRS stations and
trackers to the new settings. So please everyone, lets update our APRS
settings nationwide to the new settings. This change was made to make
the APRS system function better and to be able to use a universal
tracker path of WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 that will work in all areas of the US
including Canada.
For the recommended settings, see our web page below my signature. Also
note our web site has changed from nwaprs.org to nwaprs.info. Please
update your Favorite lists accordingly.
Thanks,
Herb, KB7UVC
