Actually, this time it's the opposite.   

Microsoft servers, like the DOS command line,  are case-insensitive.   
'nix OSes and servers (which yours is) ARE case sensitive.

If your site was being hosted on a Windows-powered server instead, the 
case the user types wouldn't have mattered.
