Doug,

Thanks for the reply to my plea.

D700 is in TNC PKT mode and this is how my AP2004 is set up. I think my issue is with AP as it seems to get connected to the TNC (indicated on the status line at startup) but does not receive packets nor do any show on the top bar of the window next to the lat/long display. I am convenced that the issue is the Serial => USB converter. Is there some sort of flow control there in AP? I am becoming resigned to running AP2002 on my old Thinkpad with a REAL serial port. I have run it with the D700 with good success. I would perfer to run AP2004 on my Dell but I guess it isn't going to happen. Michael has tried to help. He needs to re-think this serial port situation I believe.

BTW: I can see all packets from the TNC when I run my terminal program connected to the TNC thru the converter on my Dell.

On Dell with converter;
TNC => Terminal program: Packets show
TNC => APRSPoint: Packets DO NOT Show.

>PS give me a couple of days... I'm helping Michael out by putting up a web

I am looking forward to it. Please keep me posted.

Vic
