The options are literally endless if you think about it. An in-car
touchscreen PC opens you up to a world of neat things:
- GPS Navigation with moving map
- Display of APRS stations on that same map
- Fully functioning APRS client
- Software based APRS digi (if needed for special event)
- Realtime Amateur Satellite tracking
- Winlink client
With some type of cellular network based Internet connection, you can also add:
- Direct connection to APRS-IS if needed (out of range of a digi?)
- Echolink / VoIP (out of range of a repeater?)
- DX cluster display for HF mobile
- Mobile APRS IGate
- Mobile Winlink Packet Bridge
- Mobile WiFi hotspot
I know some will say some of this is straying to far from Amateur
Radio, but I see it is innovative technology which we can incorporate
into our Amateur Radio activities.
