I've been using a couple of these

connected to a small sealed battery to power my digi setup. 
I've got the battery and load connected in parallel to the
output. I don't have any sort of LVD, though I might do
that at some point.

Seems to work just fine, and saved me a lot of construction
hassle - saving my time for other projects!

It probably won't provide enough current for my next
setup, which will be an igate and include some sort of computer,
but we'll see...
