         In that case, I think the following would be of greater benefit:

         first.aprs.net 14580 # filter b/KC5EVE*/

         That will get you HIS station (with any SSID) and no 
other.  Alternatively,

         first.aprs.net 14580 # filter f/KC5EVE/100

         will get you stations within 100 km of KC5EVE.
