Don't need/want a Tasco TNC. Well, it might be useful for interoperability
testing anyway. For my TNC project I'll probably need a couple of
run-of-the-mill "9600 ready" radios for testing. And probably some
purpose-designed high speed radios like the T7F.

I'm disappointed with all the major radio manufacturers... honestly, how
much would it cost to add the mini-DIN? Or better yet, a REAL accessory
connector with all that plus received signal strenght indication, channel
control, and so on. The connectors are cheap, and all of the required
signals are already present somewhere within the radio anyway.

I guess it protects their high-end sales...
