[aprssig] More digis are changing to the new paradigm

You can't expect to see people on your screen nation-wide. There
isn't enough bandwidth available on a 1200 baud to do that. Just
because you want to see people that are 4 hops away doesn't mean they
should change their paths as they would probably be adding to a
sensitive network that is near them.

At the risk of answering before I cool down, and thus sound
like a hothead, I'm going to answer now.
I don't think anybody is really interested in figuring out
for themselves what their digis should do. I think that most are
waiting to see what comes across the list and who is the loudest with
it, and then they are all going to follow suit. I mean, after all,
what sense does it make to limit yourself to 2 or 3 hops when that
distance will only cover maybe 30 HAMS, and only perhaps 15 APRS ops?
But that's what they're doing.
If it's going to get to the point that I am excited to see
somebody show up on my screen, then I might as well be on 6-meter
PropNet where the excitement is genuine, instead of what is supposed
to be a nation-wide system but no longer is.
