         At the risk of answering before I cool down, and thus sound like a 
hothead, I'm going to answer now.

         I don't think anybody is really interested in figuring out for 
themselves what their digis should do.  I think that most are waiting to 
see what comes across the list and who is the loudest with it, and then 
they are all going to follow suit.  I mean, after all, what sense does it 
make to limit yourself to 2 or 3 hops when that distance will only cover 
maybe 30 HAMS, and only perhaps 15 APRS ops?  But that's what they're doing.

         If it's going to get to the point that I am excited to see 
somebody show up on my screen, then I might as well be on 6-meter PropNet 
where the excitement is genuine, instead of what is supposed to be a 
nation-wide system but no longer is.
