It has always worked OK from here.
To get a port 14580 server to verify your filter settings, you would send a message (not case sensitive) to SERVER on port I (India) a message which said FILTER?
Presumably you have your APRS Server validation number entered in the APRS Server Setup and have "APRSServe logon required" selected in the APRS Server Setup.
Which APRS server are you connected to? You can verify this by looking at ACTION - STATISTICS.
If you are still having trouble interrogating the APRS IS with the "filter?" command, perhaps try asking over on the UI-View list.
