Very interesting.  Does anyone know how this is being done?  I tried some
searches on Google for APRS and IRLP, etc but I didn't come up with anything
solid.  Most of the nodes are gated by a station identified as "IRLPGW"
which also turned out to be a dead end.

I suspect someone has built a hook into the IRLP node status database and
they are selectively putting IRLP node status on the APRS-IS.  They are
doing it selectively so they aren't flooding the APRS-IS with the status of
all 1500+ nodes!!  I just need to ask this person to put my local node
STN4820 on APRS-IS so I can gate it locally to RF.  But who is doing this??
If we can find this person or group, this would be a great resource.

Anybody know??

Use the CIRCLE OVERLAY (#0) with the letter I for IRLP 
and E for ECHOlink.  With FINDU's new symbol.cgi, you 
can find them all in the country instantly as below:

I see about 30 IRLP nodes and only 6 Echolinks.  I am 
disappointed by thiese small numbers, beacuse when I travel 
I like to know where these nodes are so I can call home via IRLP or
ECHOlink...  Here is how they show up on the Mobile D7 or D700
radio front panel:

I havent seen one while it was connected to something

See any of the examples above.  But check with any of their
owners to see how they are automatically generating the
real-time status.  That's neat!  Or you can just put it in the
BText of a digi if it is going to be reliable and always up...

See the examples.  Notice how they put the freq and PL
in the first 10 bytes of the comment text as in
"146520/107"  would be for 146.52 with a PL of 107
It looks jammed together, but you have to do it that
way for it to show up "nicely" on the D7 or D700.

Best to ask over on the IRLP special interest group,
since I have not followed the details.  Like I said, it
appears to be automatically generated according to 
the Repeaters status.

Maybe all  you need to do is get the local APRS-IGate
in your area to add your STN#### number to his
pass-to-RF list?
