Ron,

The filtering function using the UIDIGI parameter does work with
Marco's UIDIGI ROM firmware. We have just implemented a change in the
Los Angeles area which employs two KPC-3 TNCs and one TNC-2 with
UIDIGI. Before the filter approach was considered, the functionality
was tested on the UIDIGI firmware. As with the KPC-3, the UIDIGI
parameter is acted upon prior to UIFLOOD or UITRACE. UIDIGI ROM
actually has an advantage over the KPC-3 in that it allows up to 8
entries in the UIDIGI parameter (vs. 4 in the KPC-3) so more WIDEn-N
combinations can be filtered-out.

You are correct however. The best solution would be a firmware mod to
allow a selectable limit on the WIDEn-N flooding. Maybe Marco can be
persuaded.
